According to the developer, the idea behind developing this spying application was to allow parents who want to keep a constant check on their kids conversations and messages. Decoding private conversations can be done without requiring any sort of user credentials or login information as long as the DAT file in the profile folder is available and not encrypted with any other third-party encryption tool.
Aside from being a spying application, you can use it to view your chat archive without having to connect with internet or sign-in to Yahoo messenger. The application offers a simple interface with dead simple usage. It requires you to specify the profile folder of the user whose conversations are to be decoded. Yahoo! Messenger is a popular communication platform for many internet users. What they do not realize is that their communication is not secure, since the messenger does not use any type of encryption. Both you and your contact must have installed and running Rocksyhoo and use the same Access Password. You can establish different passwords with each contact from the list, Rocksyhoo will remember them. To assign a new Access Password, go to Contact and select Protect Contact List.

To add a contact to the list, run Yahoo! Messenger and initiate a communication with your friend. When you send the first message, it won’t be encrypted but then a message will ask, “Do you wish to securely communicate with <contact name>?” and prompt for a password.

I recently came across a useful little app that lets you save your IM chat history online. IM-History is a free tool that resides on the system traybar and uploads all IM chat history to one secure website, which can be later accessed from anywhere in the world. It is a small yet powerful tool, that takes very less system resources while running seamlessly in the background.

It currently supports Windows Live, Yahoo, Skype, AIM,  ICQ, Trillian, Pidgin, Miranda, and QIP 2005 Messengers only. Once you run the program, it will ask you to sign up, that will take a few seconds if you are fast. Once you have confirmed your email address click Proceed. It will begin detecting all Instant Messengers installed on your system and you can then choose which IM chat history do you want to save, you can select all if you want to save all chat history(see screenshot below).

In my test it failed to detect Windows Live Messenger 2009, I believe it supports Live Messenger 8.1 and older versions only. You will have to restart your messenger once you have selected it to save chat history.
